I’ve been traveling around the country these past couple of weeks. It started in sunny California (see a previous post) and then I went straight to Minnesota for the Junior Olympics with Sage’s team. They played hard and it was so fun watching them compete with the best of the best.
It was then on to Pennsylvania for some Creating Keepsakes Convention scrapbooking fun. Fun fact: As many of you know, Creating Keepsakes scrapbooking magazine started in the basement of my home. (The conventions came a few years later.) However, in the beginning we called it “Memories in the Making.” However, this name just didn’t seem right. I pondered it one night and literally woke up at 2:00 a.m. with the name “Creating Keepsakes” flashing in my mind. I got up, jotted it down, and thus the brand “Creating Keepsakes” was born! So weird to see it up in lights at the convention and to think, “I thought of that name in the middle of the night!”
Upon arriving in Lancaster, I discovered I was out of clean clothes. My dear Amish friend, Barbara Fisher, had me bring my dirty laundry over and taught me the joys of hand washing, wringing and line drying. (Also had to show a pic of their favorite mode of transportation!)
Then in return, I taught her the joys of Costco and selfies! (She really did like it, promise!)
Good times all around! Several people have asked if the Amish can have their pictures taken. While most I’ve met don’t actively have a camera, they do allow for the occasional picture!
Well, I’m off today to Jacksonville, Florida for another fabulous SISS event. Hope to see you there or at an event soon!
