One of the things I’ve missed the most from my Creating Keepsakes Magazine days are the events put on by Creating Keepsakes. Raise your hand if you loved those CKU days! How can you go wrong with hundreds of women (and a few men) scrapbooking in the same room while wearing silly costumes, participating in hilarious games and skits, or attending fun and inspiring classes during the day?
Well, the Scrap It Southern Style events have totally been scratching my scrapbooking-event-itch! Kim Hyde, owner of Scrapbook It Southern Style (SISS) and Keller’s Creations, puts on incredible events all over the country. A few weeks ago, I went to the Jacksonville, Florida SISS Weekend Event and had a ball! Just trust me when I say there is always something happening! Whether it’s a rousing game of “Cropped” (like “Chopped” on the Food Network), a flash sale with products up to 80% off, or eating homemade Southern treats, this event is a BIG bang for your buck. On top of entry to the event itself, you get a FREE class, two make ’n takes, an event t-shirt, a welcome gift and door prizes.
I’m happy to say that I’m going to more and more of these events and so is my Product Director, Cynthia Coulon. Click here to see where we will be!
Here’s the real kicker: We’re doing giveaways for every single event that I’ll be attending! We did a giveaway for the Jacksonville event, and the winner brought a few friends and had a blast.
My favorite part of these events is meeting YOU! I honestly have met the best people in the world—guys and gals that are still my best friends to this day. I also love that I get to see so many talented scrapbookers.
MacKenzie Phelps is young scrapbooker from Orlando who also happens to be an engineer at Universal Studios. Yep—she creates rides! Just look at some of the amazing pages she created around the Spiderman and Avengers rides!
I’ve met Katie Brkich twice now and I just adore her. Not only is she extremely nice, but she’s incredibly talented too! Just look at what she did with the Lisa Bearnson for Keller’s Creations “Cherries Jubliee” product (a brand new Keller’s Creations product designed by ME!)
Speaking of Katie, she lives about an hour away from where my daughter is serving a mission for our church. Last week she drove all the way to Savannah and took Brecken and her companion to lunch and showered them with gifts. It absolutely made Brecken’s week!
Needless to say, it made my week too. Oh how I love the scrapbooking community and how we take care of each other!!
